Big Ships and Bourbon: The Percy & Small Old Fashioned

If you’ve never been to Maine, you probably haven’t heard of the the Percy & Small Shipyard. It’s America's only surviving shipyard where large wooden sailing vessels were built. Giant schooners it constructed include the six-master Wyoming, the largest wooden vessel built in the country. Today, the Percy & Small Shipyard is a permanent piece of the Maine Maritime Museum.

Two Lights pays homage to this iconic Maine destination via Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon, which mimics Percy & Small’s raw materials with tastes of charred oak. (Fun fact: Rev. Elijah Craig was the first distiller to age whiskey in charred oak barrels.)

Persimmon bitters from Owl & Whale hint at just a bit of fruit flavor, and Two Lights’ house-made demerara syrup finishes off this modern spin on a classic cocktail. Our Old Fashioned is two parts booze + just enough sweetness to cut the proof of the bourbon—just the way it should be.

Sip a Percy & Small Old Fashioned cocktail (in small or standard size!) tonight at Two Lights. Perfect before or after a Second City show! We look forward to stirring this classic cocktail up for you. ••
